Workers' Compensation Follow
Workers' compensation is something we hope you do not need to use as we try our best to keep a safe environment for our staff. If you get hurt on the job, please inform your manager immediately, if possible. Depending on the severity of the injury, please go to the nearest emergency room or call 9-1-1, or have someone call for you.
If the injury is not life-threatening, to the point that you may drive yourself, we do ask that you be seen at a Physicians Immediate Care center.
For other office locations including those out of state, we always recommend going to an urgent care center but according to the nature of the injury, nearest hospital is also an option.
The typical protocol for a workers' comp injury is as follows:
- Injury occurs and depending on the issue, a first aide kit may be used. Pros field team have been equipped with first aide kits to keep in the work vehicles. The goal is get medical attention immediately, if needed. You do not have to have the workers' comp insurance information when you arrive at the medical provider, just inform them that it is under workers' comp and provide the number for a member of the HR department.
- Inform your manager or nearest co-worker how the injury occurred and fill out the incident report.
- The manager or co-worker informs HR and they will begin the process to setup the claim. HR may also contact your emergency contact. If you did not fill out your emergency contact during onboarding, please log into your Paylocity account and enter your Emergency Contact information**.
- Depending on the injury, you may be told to go home or admitted to the hospital. If you are unable to work for several days, the employer will cover wages for the first three days of the injury, after that, workers' comp covers your wages. This is all under doctor's orders which is why it is vital that any documentation provided by the doctor, be sent to HR as soon as possible.
- If the doctor's note states you can return to work the next day, or if you need restrictions, HR will work with your manager to make sure the accommodations can be made.
- You may receive a call from your workers' comp adjuster. This person will handle your claim while it is open and will be in communication with you throughout the claim process.
- If you are in a vehicle accident while working, especially while driving a fleet vehicle, the process is the same.
