Google Meet - CAM Follow
Google Meet is used for video conferencing internally with coworkers and externally with client (including Board) meetings. There are three main ways to create a google meet.
Start a video meeting from Gmail
- Open Gmail.
- In the Meet section, click New meeting.
- To send the meeting invite via link or email, click Send invite.
- When you’re ready to join the meeting, click Join now.
- Before you join your first meeting, make sure to allow permissions for your Microphone and Camera.
Schedule a video meeting from Google Calendar
When you create an event on Google Calendar, you can add a video meeting link.
Note: Guests can forward the meeting link to other people. If an uninvited person tries to join , a meeting participant from your organization must accept their request. For meetings organized by a personal Google Account, only the meeting creator can admit these participants.
- In Calendar, create an event.
- Click Add guests.
- Enter the names or email of the people you want to invite.
- Click “Add Google Meet Video Conference”.
- Click Save
You can also create an instant meeting link within Google Chat by clicking the meeting button seen below.
Join a video meeting
You can join a video meeting from Google Meet, Google Calendar, Gmail etc. You can also dial-in to a meeting from a phone or a meeting room. You can also use Google Meet without a Google account.
In call settings
In-call options include mute, toggle camera on/off, closed captioning, raise hand, share screen, additional options and hang up.
Special notes:
Raise hand should be used when you want to contribute to a conversation without speaking over somebody. Raising your hand will keep the discussion orderly and you don’t need to speak until the meeting host calls on you.
Share screen is often used. When clicked, you can either share your entire screen or a select tab. You must click the tab or screen you want to share before the screen share begins.
Additional options will allow you to record the meeting, change layout, apply visual effect (like background blur), dial in via phone for audio, report issues and change settings (such as camera settings).
Other Options
Other options include meeting chat, guest list, meeting info and activities.
Guest list is an easy way to see if all invited guests have joined the meeting before you begin. Activities include breakout rooms, polls, question & answer tools, recording, transcripts and whiteboard. Whiteboard is a collaboration tool for team brainstorming.
